Missions
Activities and Projects
The people of the First United Methodist Church are blessed with a wonderfully active Mission Committee,
which provides support to both global needs and local needs right here in the Torrington area. Our Sunday School
children have chosen a mission commitment each month. The Men’s and Women’s clubs and the Youth Fellowship
are all actively involved in local and global projects. If you know of a need or program, please email us.
Below you will see some of the ongoing projects that our congregation has taken to task.
Your support of these projects is always welcomed.
Project Overflow: The First United Methodist Church is involved in Project Overflow. We work along with other churches and synagogues, in conjunction with the local F.I.S.H. shelter for the homeless, to provide overflow shelter space during scheduled weeks of the winter. We work directly with F.I.S.H. and assist with placement of the homeless that have registered at the F.I.S.H. shelter.
30-Hour Famine: The Sr. Youth fellowship participates in the 30-Hour Famine sponsored by World Vision. In the past, because of a corporate sponsorship program, the funds raised were matched 4X so the total donation to World Vision was almost $3600!!
